Fiber optic (or "optical fiber")

Am a US based web designer... I would like to learn more about web design/graphic design Servies and anything related.... Here i am sharing with you, some of the web-related details.

Fiber optic (or "optical fiber") refers to the medium and the technology associated with the transmission of information as light impulses along a glass or plastic wire or fiber. Fiber optic wire carries much more information than conventional copper wire and is far less subject to electromagnetic interference. Most telephone company long-distance lines are now fiber optic.

Transmission on fiber optic wire requires repeating at distance intervals. The glass fiber requires more protection within an outer cable than copper. DasBlog installation

Hello,

I just set up a hosting plan and registered a domain through re-invent. Ideally, I would like to create my website and install "DasBlog", as an engine for a blog I will create, in a "subfolder". I have this set up on my local machine right now (My O/S is Windows Ultimate which comes with IIS7, so I can do this). What I know I need to do is have the subfolder also be a "Virtual Application". I read a post in the forums that re-invent could install "DasBlog" for me on my site. Would you be able to do it in the manner I described above? Let me know if you have any questions or need anything else. I can supply my account information if requested.

Can not upload web pages through FTP

Hey, I have tried to use cuteFTP to upload my web pages, but it didn't work. I could download files from my web server, but I could not upload or delete anything. The program gave me the following messge when I tried to upload files: Request denied.
Please verify that the file or folder exists and that you have the necessary permissions on the server to perform the requested operation. I have tried to disable firewall and Norton, and I still got the same problem. Could anyone help me please.

Being an IT guy, I know the thank you's come few and far in-between.

Your hosting has allowed me to do things on my site that I wasn't able to pull off with PHP..., answers have come quickly, and I really like the SQL 2005 hosting and the stats are awesome. Going live soon!

Maintenance so often?

Everytime I start testing at night, and hit a snag where I need to submit a ticket, I get the screen that it is a period of scheduled maintenance. what is the schedule? Is it every night? Is there some place I can see the schedule so I know to work on other things?

For a host that's been running since "1998", it seems very unorganized.. please tell us that all these things are currently ACTIVELY being worked on and will be implemented soon... I hope we didn't make a mistake in choosing host.

SmarterMail paging problem

When the users sign into SmarterMail and check their junk folder for erroneously placed legitimate emails, the system does not show 2nd, 3rd etc. pages - it just appears blank. It shows "Loading..." icon, but the emails never appear. Please advise.

i uploaded my ne index.asp page to the server and renamed the old and now i get nothing but when i type in me web address and i put /index.asp after it i go to my correct index page i dont know how to change the setttings to make it see asp pages as index PLEASE help

I'm trying to create my own file within the directory structure of my website, but I don't know how to do it at the re-invent hosted location?

For example, locally I use:

Filestream duh = File.Create("c:\\TimeTracker\\filename.txt");
duh.Write(data,0,data.Length);
duh.Close();

This works fine locally. However...

I tried "\\shopschedule.com\\filename.txt" and "C:\\shopschedule.com\\filename.txt" at the re-invent.net hosted site but neither seem to work.

any suggestions?

In the editor section of the e-mail account, you need to place the units for the size of the mailbox. I didn't know if it was Bytes, KiloBytes or what.
