Incomplete backup issues for DNN site?

I'm trying to backup my DNN website through re-invent control panel.

I go to "Spaces", select the space and go to Backup option.

The backup runs and generates a .dnpak file in my space's root directory - except I can't open that file (winzip tells me invalid backup file) and I get diffrent size .dnpak file everytime I run the backup. One file I got today 19M and when I ran backup again I got 63M file! This indicates to me that something is malfunctioning during the backup proceedure and it's not completing the backup file.

You don't have permission to see the files on the site + no images for admin in rich text editor

issues:

1. logged in as host or admin instead of icon upload i see: "You don't have permission to see the files on
the site" however when i log in from another place its there...

2. In rich text editor admin cannot browse any folders. File manager is synchronized, permissions as default.

Any clues?

DNN 4.9.4 & "Redirect Loop"

Hello,

I recently upgraded my working 4.8 DNN site to 4.9.4 to try and correct an error I received when I tried to create a new portal.

Unfortunately, 4.9.4 introduces a new error - The root portal gets into a redirect loop and cannot display the root portal's homepage or many of the "Host" menu items.

Google says that this is caused by AJAX not being installed in the GAC on the host machine, or because the portal alias has a trailing "/" on it. There is no trailing slash, so I'm thinking that it is AJAX not being in the GAC.

I updated all of my web.config references of .NET version to 3.5.0.0, and even set the trust level to "Full" instead of the default "Medium".

The issue is still there.

When I tried to open a support ticket, the system is down for maintenance, and emails to support get bounced unless there is a ticket. :/

I would like to confirm that my server "108785-108785" has asp.NET 3.5, and that it is working as it should.

Plato, can you confirm?

Hello,

Since recently I've been getting the following error at the top of my home page:

Could not allocate space for object 'dbo.dnn_EventLog'.'PK_EventLogMaster' in database 'linguaplay' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.

It would be great if anyone could explain why this happened and what I can do to fix it. many thanks in advance. P.

SMTP settings ... emails dont go through

Hi i have the following issue, using DNN 04.09.00 and having my SMTP setting configuered as below

SMTP Server and port: mail.mysite.com
SMTP Authentication:basic
SMTP Enable SSL: no
SMTP Username: username
SMTP Password: password

tried with several other servers, same issue... test mails are sent successfully though.

the emails either dont go through at all or come late, the SMTP server/login/password is correct 100% but when i use contact form emails come in about 20% of the time... what may be the problem here?

Backing up DNN site

I am getting into DotNetNuke and like what I have been seeing so far. So much so that I am looking at having it installed into my re-invent hosting account. If I do this, I will want to be able to back up not only my SQL database, which I should be able to do with SQL Server Management Studio Express, but also the DNN web site files as well. For example, I would like to transfer the DNN site to my local installation where I can develop and test, and then upload the updated site back to my hosting account. Since a DotNetNuke web site consists of a minimum of 1800 files spread across the directory tree, I am wondering if there is a better way of backing up (and later restoring) the files than using an ftp client. This involves a file-by-file transfer and can be time consuming. What would be ideal is to have the capability to run something like WinZip on the server for saving the directory tree into a single file, then ftp'ing the one file locally, then reversing the process after working on it locally. Is there a way to do something like that in the re-invent hosting environment?

What is the name of the Re-invent DNN localhost? I am setting up a google analytics module which gives me the ability to exclude, by name, the localhost. Do I specify this as an IP or name? What is the fully qualified descriptor of localhost that I should provide?

Co-hosting DNN and dasBlog on same account

I want to co-host both DNN and dasBlog on the same account. I think this is possible if you install each app into a separate sub-folder (e.g /blog and /portal )

However, I made a mistake by getting dasBlog installed in the root folder, so all http requests are handled by dasBlog

There is no content I want to save on my Blog. Should I use a support ticket or just delete dasBlog manually and then request a DNN and dasBlog re-install from the automated menu?

DNN "Error creating Portal"

Just posting to see if anyone has seen this error...

I have a functioning install of DNN 4.03.4 (This was upgraded from 4.0), and when I try to create a new child portal I get the "Add a portal" form with a simple error message on the top: "Error creating Portal".

There is nothing in the DNN log viewer to indicate what the error was. I have tried all types of built-in templates, including "portal", one of the basics.

The DNN forums have an entry that states:

"Make sure the virtual DNN user (ASPNET or Network Service) has create file & folder permissions for the top level of your DNN installation directory in file system."

Is this something that I can check, or can Re-Invent check it for me?

IIS application root setting

I am trying to move my web content from godaddy to my new account at re-invent. I need to have sevral root application created in diffrent folders like subdomains

www.coloradohandball.com/chamain needs to act as a standalone application

Is this possible at Re-invent? I have seen other posts that indicate this might be a feature of a control panel soon, but that was a couple of months ago.

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

I have been building sites using a proprietary content management program for several years. Each site requires a new install in the site directory in a virtual server environment. However, I don't spend any money to add sites or email...

I have been "testing" DNN as an alternative and am feeling pretty good about it as a content management platform. It is designed for multiple sites to be run out of a single install of the software. Are most developers using it this way or are they installing fresh with each new site? Other than the obvious one install to maintain advantage of DNN what are some of the other advantages? Disadvantages...? When is it necessary to start a new portal with a fresh install?

re-invent has great pricing... as such I guess my real question is should I point new sites to an existing install and add email when for not much more I can get a whole new install?
