Anyway, I am setting up my account (after letting it sit for a while) and I'm finding that I can't send email from Outlook 2003 to the re-invent SMTP mail server. Everything else seems to be working, and I followed the instructions provided in the knowledge base article Q10161 - FAQ: How do I enable SMTP Authentication in my Email Client?
The question is "does my ISP block or not" and is there a list of who blocks this stuff, and who doesn't? My ISP is bellsouth.net and I am operating out of Atlanta, GA (USA).
Anyone have any ideas to offer, or want to list their ISP as blocking / passing sent mail?
We do not have a list available of all the ISPs but I believe Bellsouth.net blocks connections from outside SMTP Servers. It is failrly common and you would just need to use the SMTP Server issued by your ISP provider to send email if using an email client like Outlook.
If you try to send email and have SMTP Authentication checked off and receive an error it is highly likely they are blocking SMTP.
