Hello,

I recently upgraded my working 4.8 DNN site to 4.9.4 to try and correct an error I received when I tried to create a new portal.

Unfortunately, 4.9.4 introduces a new error - The root portal gets into a redirect loop and cannot display the root portal's homepage or many of the "Host" menu items.

Google says that this is caused by AJAX not being installed in the GAC on the host machine, or because the portal alias has a trailing "/" on it. There is no trailing slash, so I'm thinking that it is AJAX not being in the GAC.

I updated all of my web.config references of .NET version to 3.5.0.0, and even set the trust level to "Full" instead of the default "Medium".

The issue is still there.

When I tried to open a support ticket, the system is down for maintenance, and emails to support get bounced unless there is a ticket. :/

I would like to confirm that my server "108785-108785" has asp.NET 3.5, and that it is working as it should.

Plato, can you confirm?

Thanks, Paul.

I followed the steps to make sure that they were enabled, and changed all references in web.config to 3.5.0.0, but my DNN "Dashboard" still reports that it is using .NET version 2.0.50727.1433.

When I try to access the host menu to "Reset Application", I get the redirect loop. I thought that changing your web.config was supposed to reset it as well, and I have done that. Do you have to reset the application pool or something?

Any ideas? What can I try?

Microsoft has really made this confusing but .NET 3.5 is really an extension of the .NET 2.0 Framework.  Its not its own framework but is an addon to .NET 2.0 so even though your site is set to .NET 2.0, the .NET 3.5 framework as well as the .NET 3.0 framework are all automatically available to you.  Since the .NET 2.0 framework is the foundation any error messages will contain the .NET 2.0 version information.  I would suspect your error is somewhere else.

I've been through everything that I can find on the net and at DNN with no luck. For some reason I get stuck in a redirect loop when I try to access the default.aspx located in my domain root (Main portal), but not with any other child portals.

Paul, is there any way that you can double-check things on your end and make sure that for my domain things are set up correctly?

If you're really bored, would you mind digging a little and make some suggestions for where I can look?

Thanks in advance,
Desi

Hello,

We had someone check your site and could not locate what is causing the problem on your root/parent dnn portal.. All your sub or child portals appear to be working correctly.  If no one from DotNetNuke site has any suggestions then we would suggest requesting us to restore the site and database to a date prior to the problem starting if it was within the last 2 weeks.
